Halfnote appears as to quarter notes with a tie

I am typing in an arrangement and in one of the bars I have a halfnote on beat 2.
This appears as a two quarter notes with a tie. How can I change that?
I need to change this, because the people playing in my concert band are not the best readers and if I can’t change this, I know they will play this as two quarter notes instead af a halfnote.
Please help.

Check Notation Options under Note Grouping.
You could also use Force Duration (shortcut o)

Do keep in mind that under modern engraving theory, two tied quarters is (usually) the right way to notate it.

Yes, I am aware of that.
Something about always being able to see beat 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. I get them confused.
My concert band doesn’t give a damn about that. Some of them couldn’t even read music, when I took over leadership. So I have to make some pedagogical compromises.
