HALion 7.1.50 update is now available

Dear all,

the new HALion update is now available in the Steinberg Download Assistant and comes with plug-in UI scaling. You can adjust the size of the user interface from -50% to +100% in 12.5% increments. For all details and other fixed issues please have a look at version history here or in the Download Assistant:

All the best,

Hello @Florian_Haack - The opening 2nd and third paragraphs of this document references Groove Agent .?

I’m guessing the same info is also relevant for HALion/Sonic.?

Yes, it is. I will send an update of the version history once I got the changed paragraph.

Version History is updated now here in the forum!

Huge thanks for the scaling. Much appreciated.

Just started Halion to test it. But all Libraries are gone :frowning:

P.S. My Halion is part of Absolute 6. Could be a reason?

P.P.S. Groove Agent Lib also killed. I already hate this update

Just go to the folder with your *vstsound files and click on any one of these. This will activate the library manager which will update all files in case they are no longer recognized for whatever reason. If this doesn’t help you can also try a rescan in MediaBay.

Thanks for the advice, but doesn’t work. This update screwed up all. Also reinstalled, but still no go. Will do a search now on how to rescan in the mediabay. Don’t know how this works. At least for me, Steinberg did a bad job, with this update. Never ever such trouble before.

@Gerrit_Junge
Halion 7.1.50 stand-alone crashed on me.
I, too, get a notification that libraries are missing

I left-clicked the red triangle, Halion became unresponsive for a while. Then it displayed a message “No new libraries found” and crashed afterwards.
HALion 7 Standalone3.10.0 64bit2026.1.23 2.34.16.063.dmp (465.8 KB)

Same problems here. Cubase is now unstable, loads very, very slowly and my templates are all cleared. They now open as empty project. I suspect media bay is corrupted now due to this update.

Here, the Halion update works as expected in Cubase 14 (Win 10, latest updates). No missing libraries as far as I can tell.
@Johnny_Moneto : Is it just the stand-alone crashing?

Same here. Fortunately, my libraries are back after a restart. But what you described remained. I also now have libraries where the text can’t even be read properly.

I’ve opened a ticket about this. Above all, I’ve asked for simple instructions on how to rebuild. The manual and web search don’t really help. It can’t be that difficult, really. If only it were described properly.

“Have you tried switching it off and on again?” works like a charm.

Libraries and all presets are back. I wasn’t worried so much about this, to be honest, as I just updated some of the libraries through the Steinberg Download Assistant.
It is the crash that made me post a message here.

Urm, how do you that? :open_mouth:

New Features. Why so cryptic? And why not use small images to show where things are? I can’t find any of this. I have no idea where it is, either in the standalone version or as a plugin. Maybe someone here can step into the breach for Steinberg and help out with a screenshot.

P.S. For Mac please

P.S. Just found out about standalone, see screenshot. Still searching for this settings in the plugin

P.P.S found for plugin

Would also like to know this

Hi all,

thanks for the reporting. It seems like there is an issue caused by a specific combination of HALion (Sonic) and the MediaBay. The issue does not appear on every system. In case you are experiencing trouble by the new update, please try to delete the ContentManager.xml from HALion and HALion Sonic.

On Mac:

Use the Finder “Go” Menu

1. Open Finder.

2. In the menu bar, click Go.

3. Hold down the Option (⌥) key, you’ll see Library appear in the list.

4. Click Library.

5. Then go to: Preferences => HALion 7 => Look for the ContentManager.xml and delete it

6. Then go to: Preferences => HALion Sonic => Look for the ContentManager.xml and delete it

On Windows 11:

  • Open File Explorer (Win + E)

  • On “Home” line enter the path:
    %AppData%/Steinberg/HALion 7_64
    %AppData%/Steinberg/HALion Sonic_64

  • Delete the file ContentManager.xml

We are trying to write a script which will clean up these things automatically and working on a Hotfix for the MediaBay as well. Hope this helps for now!

If I understand you correctly this will enable Cubase to rebuild all content in MediaBay?

Edit: Working now. Tanks for help.
