Halion 7 Latency

Hi

I’m using a Halion 7 bass and thought it didn’t seem to swing with the drums and other instruments.

So, I did a render which showed that there’s a latency with Halion 7 or Cubase 14 Pro when it renders.

Does anyone have a work round for this ?

I tested for a possible latency. I used an analog synth module with a basic 50% square wave. The note started on sample 500000.

The rendered note also starts exactly on sample 500000, it starts with a little attack on the amp envelope.

Maybe the delay that you experience is part of the particular preset that you are using?

Ok Thanks.

Just checked halion 7 in the mixer page and it’s showing 69.3 ms. Isn’t that high for a steinberg instrument ? The preset i’m using is SR P BassSXPicked.

I neither see nor hear any latency for Halion 7 with this particular patch loaded. Maybe it would be easier if you could upload some screenshot depicting your situation?

In the mixer window what is the latency number ?

For me? Nothing at all.

Thanks for your help.

Now I’ve had a bit more time to sit down and look.

It’s the third party plugins that are showing 59ms latency.

The main culprit was The_Smoother by Phil Speiser and the other Bass Shaper.

So the new question is how much latency with the plugins in the inserts is OK ?

Hi,

I’ve read a bit more now on delay compensation. So the latency of 59ms should be OK as the delay compensation would take that into account.

So my question now is, what highest latency value in the inserts that Cubase can handle ?

Maybe you want to make this a new topic overe in the Cubase forum.

OK THanks very much for your help
