I was trying to record filter cutoff automation via the write button for a piano in halion, but it didn’t write.
I tried “show all automation” and "show used autiomation (selected tracks)…nothing

If you are trying to automate from the control within the instrument and it is not writing, try creating a Quick Control for that parameter in Cubase (not the instrument) and control the parameter from the Quick Control. This should work. I don’t think the instruments send the parameter data back to Cubase for writing unless it is connected as a Quick Control.
