Halion is not loading automatically when I am adding instruments (brass, winds). I am using a template for Virtual Drumline (VDL). I am using the template from Eric Kruse.
Also, I am having trouble with the “VST and MIDI” and “track inspector panels.” As you can see in the image, I am trying to pull up the Halion player, but then Kontakt comes up. I can’t assign Halion sounds to the instruments I want in the “inspector” panel.
update: I am trying to manually load the Halion sounds, however it seems there’s a lot go glitching. The VST instruments will change it self randomly. For example, it will change from a Halion sound to “Groove Agent SE5.”
update: I am now having issue with this file in particular, it can’t load and I am seeing these two popups when. trying to open the file.
update: basically every time I open this file, something happens, and Dorico won’t work, and have to restart my computer. I have the diagnostic report if someone wants to view it, I can’t attach it here it’s too big.
update: So I discovered the Halion expression maps are missing from this template, which is probably causing the error I am exeperiencing. Image here:
I think you’ll have to supply the diagnostic report, as there’s something screwy going on on your system. Can you provide a link to a cloud drive?
I would also check some basics. Can you open the HALion app and load the instruments there? Is everything reported as installed in the Steinberg Library Manager? I presume you’ve restarted the Mac?
Hi @mameza7 , I think you ran into a bug that has been around for a long time. It happens only really rarely, but once hit, there is no easy way out. Also, we would like to fix the bug but can’t reproduce your issue in-house. For that reason we can’t really fix it, because we don’t know where to start.
However, in your case now we have to find a workaround. What happens if you choose from the menu Play > Playback Template and reapply the default playback template. Does that work? Also, try with other, new projects, are they also screwed?
And it would be nice to get hands on your original project. You could delete all the notes from it, because I’m only interested in the audio engine setup data.
So please zip up the file and upload here. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the info. Actually it would be no problem at all if I had to make a new project file. I was just copying and pasting parts from xml files into this file to get started. My other projects work completely normal, so it’s just this file. I am thinking, since this is a template for Virtual Drumline (VDL), I am missing the Halion expression maps and that is my main issue besides the bug? Moreover, I am trying to get Halion instruments (brass and winds) added onto this template to work with percussion instruments (Virtual Drumline).

When I try to close the file, it just freezes. And then I force quit, restart Dorico, and it won’t start, and then I have to restart my computer. So basically the file is unworkable.
