…or any other sounds for that matter. I suspect it’s a path issue or something, but I haven’t moved anything since it was all downloaded.
(Sorry that this is a new topic for a common thing – just seems that a lot of the threads on this topic are out of date by now.)
I’ve attached some screenshots of Steinberg Library Manager and a diagnostics report. If anyone can help me set this up properly, I’d really appreciate it!
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (2.9 MB)
It looks like it’s installed correctly. If you click on the little “e” button, that will bring up the HALion player window, and you should see if any instruments are loaded in the slots – or indeed, if you can actually double-click on an instrument in the browser on the right hand side, and load it into a slot.
Hi, thanks – which “e” button? On which window?
And shouldn’t the sounds automatically happen? Like if I assign Oboe to a staff, shouldn’t it just sound like an oboe?
I currently have an oboe that sounds like choral “ah”, and a trombone that is a piano sound. But most of the time, in my templates, I have no sound on instruments… Not sure what’s wrong with my setup.
In Dorico’s Routing tab of Play mode. Here:
Yes, normally. By default, the application Preferences should set a default playback template.
Yours should be “Auto” or Iconica Sketch, HSO, etc.
You can always re-apply the template from the Play menu.
The HALion VST window should show you instruments loaded in the slots on the left; and a browser of your libraries and samples on the right. (You won’t have all the ones that I’ve got…!)
Okay very helpful, thank you! You’ve sent me down the right path so I know where to find things and how to set them. I appreciate it!
But, to reiterate: normally, it should just happen automatically.
