Halion Search function

The Search function in Halion triggers the Pad display using a Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra tablet.

Hi @robforage

Please let us have more details, such as a short clip which shows all steps leading to the problem.

Thanks
Lars

Hi Lars the first shot shows the Halion Search panel lower left. The second shot shows what happens when you touch it. The (unwanted) Pads display appears, moving the Halion Search to upper left. The Search function now works but only searches in the subcategory selected. Given the size of the preset library, it’d be more useful to have it search across all subcategories.

Ihave to send the second shot in a separate Post

Hi @robforage,

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to reproduce the issue on my end.

Please check whether you’ve tapped the ‘KEYS/PADS’ button, which toggles between the on-board keyboard and pad modes (which is intended behaviour).

If you’re experiencing a different issue, it would be helpful if you could record a short video showing the steps that lead to the problem. Once done please upload the clip via Dropbox or similar and share the link with us.

Thanks,
Lars

Hi Lars, no the Pad/keys button is at the top of the screenshot I sent. The Halion Search window is bottom left so no mistaken triggering. If im in Pad mode the pad panel appears and if in keys mode the keys panel appears when tappingbthe Halion Search window. As noted before, I’ll try to upload a video elsewhere, Rob

This messaging app won’t letme send you the link, so cut and paste the following onto the Dropbox . com in you browser:

Hi @robforage,

Thanks for your message.

For some reason, the link isn’t working, even after adding the dropbox address in front. Could you please check your PM box and share the complete download link with me via email?

Thanks again!

Best,
Lars

Hi Lars please send me your direct email address. Any Steinberg forums address rejects the link. Thanks Rob

Hi @robforage

Thank you for your message.

We’ve been able to make the dropbox link work in the meantime.

Here comes an important request: It would be great if you could help us find the exact name of this window control bar, to allow us further evaluating the problem.

To do so, is there an option somewhere in the Android Settings to disable it? Look for something like “multi window”, or “window controls.

Thanks again,
Lars

Regarding your search issue:
This behavior is intentional. On Android tablets without external keyboards, the OS keyboard would otherwise obscure the instrument list. Tapping the search field automatically opens Keys/Pads to ensure the list remains visible in the upper half of the screen. Changing this would negatively impact the vast majority of Android users.

Hi Lars The screenshot shows the window control in the advanced features cluster

Hi Lars Thanks for the info on the Search control. BTW, I’m not using an external keyboard. The internal OS keyboard can be used in floating mode so it doesn’t obscure half the screen. This removes the need to open the Pads/Keys window.
Anyway, the Halion Search function would be more useful if it searched for all presets rather than just those in a particular category. Example, i can only find Recorder if I’m in the General MIDI category, not in Brass or others.

Hi @robforage

Thanks again for providing us with further infos and the screenshot. Here comes the feedback from our engineering:

Unfortunately, since this is Samsung’s custom solution, we don’t know of any way to programmatically detect if the “multi window menu” is visible (in order to move the transport controls). So we recommend to disable the “show multi window menu” setup option when using Cubasis. But thanks for the screenshot and for bringing this to our attention.

Best,
Lars
