Halion Sonic 7 Stops playing sound. Iload a Patch into slot 1 it plays from my keyboard, Halions Keyboard, and from recorded midi. then after sometime it dont play, the keyboard flashes on slot 1 but no sound, I can load another patch still no sound, I then load another Halion, load the same patch move the midi to the new Halion it plays from the midi and both keyboardsI checked the various settings on the non functioning Halion with the new loaded and I can’t see anything different.
The disappearing sound could be caused by either Main Volume or Expression for that midi channel were set to a low value.
These would be Midi CC7 and CC11. If you send a value for each of them of 100 to 127 the sound could come back.
Thank you for your response Johnny, I thought the cc controls were for individual tracks, I have no CC set at all in this project as of yet, I’m assuming we are talking about the controller lane CC settings, or is there a Cubase system setting
with the aid of ChatGPT, after following the step by step process, the conclusion the saved instrument instance state is intermittently loading with its audio engine not starting, even though the UI and Midi layer are active, I have too many instances of Halion loaded, in fact I had 10, using a single instrument on each, I have now used 1 with multiple patches, all on single inputs and out puts, I have tried to reproduce the original fault without success, using the single Halion,
That’s awkward. You should be able to load any amount of Halions you like and that fit your computer.
Can you create a project, which has the issue, but remove all audio files and unnecessary other tracks and share this with me? I’d like to have a look if it hapens on my side as well.
As Johnny says. Details of your system may help in a diagnosis.
hi Johnny, I have reproduced the problem see what you make of it,
Halion No Sound.cpr (886.8 KB)
First I noticed the track was set to “No bus” for the audio output.
But this alone doesn’t bring the sound back.
Turns out that Midi CC11 (Expression) was set to zero for this particular midi channel. Why? I assume you did it at some point unknowningly. There is no midi event for CC11 on the track so you must have done it either via live midi input or at some previous editing stage.
Anyway, using this midi insert allowed me to bring CC11 back to value 127:
Hi Johnny, thanks for your input, I have no idea as I havn’t set any midi CCC’s This was working yesterday, and today on opening the project these both weren’t working where do you think the settings were made, I’m going to find where you changed the settings, I know where the other audio setting is, I’ll have a play to see If I can do as you have done![]()
![]()
This is not an audio setting, this is pure midi.
Midi Control, as seen on my screenshot, is a midi plugin.
I now have a better understanding of what was happening, my last question, when I open in the inspector left pane the first tab showing the track information as in your first post, when I open for example inserts the top closes, showing just inserts, in your first snap you had two tabs open at the same time, I can’t get that to happen ![]()
Thanks for that Johnny, you’ve been really Helpful
