Halion Sonic high CPU usage after exiting Dorico

I most often disable MIDI thru in Dorico and use the stand alone Halion Sonic to provide audio output from my MIDI keyboard. When I exit Dorico I can hear the PC fans increasing speed and looking in Task Manager the culprit is Halion which suddently has a high CPU usage which persists until I either end Halion or start Dorico again. Running Halion Sonic on its own does not give this high CPU usage. This seems to me to be a bug.

Despite the fact that I find your setup unusual and don’t see the benefit of the approach, I can not reproduce on my PC the behaviour that you describe.
I’ve tried both, first starting Dorico and then HALion Sonic Standalone and stopping Dorico again, but CPU usage stays at a low level. Same holds true when first starting HALion Sonic, then Dorico and shutting down Dorico again. In both cases no soaring CPU levels.

There must be something particular in your setup.

Thanks for checking. The reason for this setup is that I most often compose/arrange for strings and I sometimes want to be able to try out something on the keyboard before entering it in Dorico. If I rely only on the sound from Dorico I’m limited in the available range. If the last instrument I edited was the violin I have no sound below G3. So I prefer to have the piano sound from Halion at all times.

Okay, your workflow makes sense, but I still have no clue of what might be going on there.
Is it easily reproducible with you?

It happens every time. Still it is no big problem just a minor issue. And as you can’t reproduce it it’s probably something in my setup causing it.
