This seems like a DAW and/or exporting problem not a Halion thing. I see several Halion Sonic tracks. Did you by chance listen to Halion Sonic #4 but export Halion Sonic #3?
If that’s not it, maybe some description on how specifically the sounds were exported would help someone help you.
Hi @musicperson ,
I don’t use FL Studio, so not familiar with how FL Studio exports sounds.
I googled this:
‘fl studio halion sonic not exporting sound correctly’
The AI Overview came back with:
AI Overview
If HALion Sonic is not exporting sound correctly in FL Studio (e.g., no sound, missing notes, or different sound than live playback), it is often due to VST3 compatibility issues, incorrect export settings, or bridging issues.
Here are the most effective solutions based on common user experiences:
- Use VST2 Instead of VST3
HALion Sonic often works better as a VST2 plugin rather than VST3 within FL Studio.
- Go to Channels > Add one > More…
- Deselect the VST3 version of Halion Sonic.
- Select the VST2 version (usually listed just as “Halion Sonic” or “Halion Sonic SE”) .
- Replace the instance in your project and try exporting again.
- Enable “Use Fixed Size Buffers”
If the sound is distorted or missing during export, HALion might be struggling with FL Studio’s dynamic buffer sizes.
- Open the HALion Sonic plugin wrapper.
- Click the Gear Icon (top left) > Processing tab.
- Enable “Use fixed size buffers” .
- Change Export Settings
- Export as WAV: Do not export as MP3 to test; WAV files are less prone to rendering errors .
- Disable “Trim Silence”: In the export dialog, make sure this is turned off to ensure nothing is cut off .
- Disable “Split Mixer Tracks”: If you are splitting tracks, sometimes the routing to the master is lost. Try exporting as a full song first .
- Disable “Maximum Polyphony”: In the export settings, turn off “disable maximum polyphony” to see if that resolves missing notes .
- Check Plugin “Live” vs “Render” Quality
If the sound is different (e.g., poor quality), check if HALion Sonic has separate quality settings for live playing and rendering.
- Ensure the export dialog in FL Studio has “HQ for all plugins” checked .
- Ensure the sample rate in the export dialog matches your project audio settings (e.g., 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz) .
- Alternative Solution: Record with Edison
If the export continues to fail, record the output in real-time within FL Studio.
- Place Edison on the Mixer track where Halion Sonic is routed.
- Set Edison to “On Play” recording.
- Play the project to record the audio.
- Drag the audio from Edison into the Playlist and export that audio .
- Reset MIDI/Plugin State
- Click the MIDI Reset button (small lightning bolt) in the top right of the HALion Sonic interface before exporting .
- Make sure you are not using a “demo” version of the plugin, which often restricts export functionality
There’s probably more recommendations if you type something else in.
I don’t think Halion has a VST 2 in the latest version. Maybe one of the other solutions may work!
