I haven’t used Halion much and this is why. I come to an unfinished project to work on and one track has Halion string ensemble. I see in the Halion panel that it is channel one and it flashes as it plays. It’s mixer is up all the way.Output there is main.
In the inspector, routing is channel 1 stereo out, and stereo out is set as usual to my Presonus Studio 3 Asio. If I open another project set to that , it sounds. Volume there is up. Its channel and the stereo out are soloed. So what else is wrong, as there is no sound.
Hi,
Can you see the meters on the track? The Instrument Track’s meters are on the Audio Return side, so you can see, if the audio signal goes to the Cubase mixer or not.
Isn’t the Expression (CC11), set to 0? Sometimes also the Modulation (CC1) affects the volume.
Halion Sonic meter is at 0db (highest) while I see an extremely weak signal in the arrangement window, if I increase the height greatly. Looking in the list editor with only notes checked not to show, I see no controls or anything, empty. Is there somewhere else I would see expression?
Hi,
If you have very soft signal, I would expect, this is the “Expression” issue. Double-check, which MIDI CC does affect the expression of this instrument (typically MIDI CC11, might be also MIDI CC1), and set the value of the given MIDI CC (set it to 100 or 127).
Twas indeed the expression CC11. I raised in first part and then had sound. Why it would be low in 1st place I don’t know. thanks! Anything related to being derived from chord track?
Hi,
No. The default MIDI CC11 value is 0. So once you send Reset, you get this value.
It’s a good practice to send the custom init values at the beginning of the project.
I come back to the song. No sound in the Halion baas. I put the CC11 and CC1 up and it seems that is not it, as this time there isn’t even a glimmer of activity in the Halion editor, though its volume is up all the way, it’s soloed, going to the master where other tracks sound. I had just come to deal with ledger line problem of another thread. Every day a new problem, like I am destined never to complete anything in what time I have left.
