Hang entering Play mode

Nothing unusual from a user’s perspective, just clicked the Play tab…

Hi @derAbgang , the diagnostics contain a memory dump of a freeze of the audio engine at 6:56 am. So the audio engine did not crash but was deadlocked in that the main thread was waiting for an event from another thread but hat did not come. The stack trace looks familiar to me and so it is a known issue, which we known is around, but could not fix so far. It is a really rare condition, but some users run into it.
My question now is, can you reproduce that hanging?

So far, no, but I have a suspicion that it is somehow related to Kontakt 7 and an nkm I loaded from this forum. When I loaded that nkm in stand-alone Kontakt, the UI was rather unresponsive for certain actions. I brushed it off and loaded Kontakt in Dorico then loaded that same nkm. An hour or so later, it hung switching to Play mode.

It could all be coincidental, of course, but I thought the more information the better.

Well, in the diagnostics was only one memory dump and we usually keep the dump files of at least one week. But again, there was only one such dump contained.
Would you please keep an eye open and also watch via the TaskManager for the status of the VSTAudioEngine process. Is it shown in red and as “not responding”?

I’ll get back to that project a bit later and I’ll click around to try and get it to hang, but the hang at 6:56 (EST) had only Dorico5 red, the audio engine process was fine (not red… but I had to kill it after killing Dorico).
