Technically there is actually no such thing as ‘mothers day’… it’s a corruption of ‘mothering sunday’ when people of various christian denominations would return to ‘the mother church’… Mothering Sunday - Wikipedia
Personally i would much rather it were ‘mothers’ day but this isn’t the place to get into that…
