Hardware box greyed out

So, yesterday I had a long chat with Tim, Cubase agent(?). He took over my computer and managed to get “Hardware” to show up. I’m not sure what exactly he did – and I’m not sure that he absolutely knows either. Now I need to test it with a vocal.
