Hi everyone,
I’d need your help with the harp pedal labels (I’m attaching an excerpt). I’d like to display the pedal names on two line as compactly as possible, without taking up extra space above or below the staff. I’ve tried adjusting the typography settings and the paragraph style, but I can’t seem to get a satisfactory result.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
The problem lies in Library > Character Styles > Music Text. You have Finale Maestro (which is not a text font, I think?) Choose e.g. Bravura Text instead.

Music fonts, like Bravura, Sebastian, Finale Maestro, etc, tend to have very large line height (because they contain a range of characters that are much larger than text).
The “Text” versions of MUSIC fonts, e.g. Bravura Text, Sebastian Text, Petaluma Text .. are designed to be a version of the music symbols that can be used in line with text characters, without massively disturbing the line height.
MakeMusic have slightly muddied the waters, as they don’t provide “Text” versions of their Music fonts, but they do have font called e.g. “Finale Maestro Text”, which isn’t a music font at all, but a text font suggested to be a suitable design to work with the music font.
