Having problems when launching Dorico 5

Hi, I bought Dorico 5 yesterday and downloaded every things that the Steinberg Downlaod Manager told me to, but when I open Dorico, it kips pop up the this message:

Basically Dorico says that it cannot find HALion Sonic 7 (instrument) and Groove Agent SE 5 (instrument). I’ve try to re-download the whole file but nothing seems to work. I’m new to this software so I really dunno what to do to solve the problem. My laptop is Window 11, and it can runs Finale smoothly. Hope someone can solve this question for me, thanks a lot!

Also, here’s the diagnostics report of my Dorico.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (177.3 KB)

Welcome to the forum @gracecello89 .

Thanks for the diagnostics. According to that, you have no VST3 plug-ins at all and consequently also HALion Sonic and Groove Agent are missing.
What if you go into the Steinberg Download Assistant and try to install both of them again?

Hello @Ulf , thanks for responding to my question. I’ve try your method, installing both HALion Sonic and Groove Agent again.

Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to work. The same problem still exist. Here’s another diagnostics report, I really hope I can find a solution for my Dorico.

Dorico Diagnostics.zip (184.1 KB)

Thanks for the diagnostics again.
But yet again, there are no VST Instruments detected with you.
Please have a look under

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

Does that directory exist with you? If so, is there anything inside that folder?

Hello again, yes, I do have things inside the folder you mentioned.

Dunno if this is normal or not

Update: In the meantime we figured that the VSTScannerMaster crashes and therefore no VST3s are available. Most likely it doesn’t like Chinese characters in the path string. Further investigations ongoing…

So I’ve been thinking, since the problem is likely because of Chinese characters, shall I maybe download an English version of Dorico 5 instead of the Chinese version?? Is that possible to do though? I mean I’ve already use my download code, not sure if that’s gonna work.

Hi, unfortunately that won’t help, because there is no difference in the Dorico binaries, they contain everything for all the supported languages. So changing language in Dorico is just a matter of setting the preferences and restarting the program. Also, it is not Dorico that is crashing but the vstscannermaster (also a program by Steinberg, but only a utility that runs in the background during start-up). So unfortunately we need to fix that vstscannermaster to cope with Chinese paths. Sorry

Update: Finally gracecello89 is now up and running. We could replace the vstscannermaster and vstscanner with a newer version and that does not crash anymore in the Chinese Windows environment.
