The cursor jumps back to the next vertical line in the grig when recording and starts before the cycle zone..I need the metronome count-in(1-2-3-4) on and starting exactly at the beginning of the cycle..how can this be done

I assume your cycle doesn’t start on the first beat, right?
Same measure?
Do you need a click during recording?
Maybe you can upload a screenshot?
There are several ways to do it depending on your use case.
I’m just confused about why it doesn’t do what I want and what it’s designed to do..just forget about it..I’ll just have to use the best record mode I can find
Recording start - set the “common record mode” to either
- start at Left locator or Punch in position,m or
- start at Selection
Count in setting
Metronome setup - cogwheel down in lower right corner sideby the metromne button. And open the General pane and select the "count in " to 1 bar , that gives 1–2-.3-.4 in 4/4, but 1-2-3- in 3/4 ; (I like it set to 2 bars, btw)
You have to activate both metronome and count in at the toolbar in the lower left corner of project window oh course

Whenever your cycle does not start at the first downbeat of a bar the count in starts one bar prior to the preceding first downbeat. Why? Imagine your cycle starts at “2 and”: Do you really want a count in like “and (3) and (4) and (1) and (2)”? How would you know where you are if you have no other info than the click and no context?
FWIW, what you can do:
- Render your click (Project / Signature Track / Render Audio click between Locators).
- Solo the new click track along with the track that’s record enabled (mute the section you don’t want to hear if necessary).
- Move the click track to an offbeat position in case you start on an “and” or someplace else
- Now, it’s best to use Punch In and Out and to detach the punch points from the locators to start recording at the exact position you are looking for with four clicks ahead.
I think I got after fooling around with this and that and then not restarting the computer may have been why..when I gave up and shut the computer down and then turned it on later it starts recording at the cycle or looper where I want it thanks
Unless I misread your initial post or you have found a setting I am not aware of I don’t think that’s possible without jumping through hoops. A screenshot is always helpful…
It would be terrific if you could share the settings that starts the count in with 4 quarternotes and immediately starts recording even if this position is not at the first downbeat of a bar. It might as well be that I am missing something - Cubase is deep.

I really don’t remember what made it happen but somehow it eventually started just about at the cycle (loop) marker,not the punch in, and started recording right at the cycle marker..it was either luck or me restarting the computer.. there’s no way I could retrace what I did
