Hi all,
I have a multi-flow work in which I need to change the instruments and players. In many of the flows I’ve checked the ones I need, but they don’t show up. This is happening in multiple flows.
For example, I’ve attached a screenshot.
The singers Mabel and Austin should be at the top, but they’re not.
Any suggestions?
Click on the Full Score layout in the right hand panel, so that it turns bright blue. Are the boxes for Mabel and Austin ticked?
Part of the same layout…no, that’s not related to how your full score displays. Did you click on Full Score, as I suggested?

Your first screenshot shows that Mabel and Austin are part of the flow, and the flow is contained in the full score, but these things are not transitive. Your full score wasn’t set up to include Mabel and Austin.
How do I fix it?
Also, Sue seems to be tied to Emily.
I thought you did fix it. When you select the full score layout and tick the boxes for Mabel and Austin, you tell Dorico to include Mabel and Austin’s music in the full score.
You have a layout which includes both Sue and Emily. But again, that has nothing to do with how things display in the full score. Your full score can include either Sue or Emily, or both.
You also have a layout that is just Emily. If you want a layout that is just Sue, select the “Emily & Sue” layout, so that it turns bright blue, and then untick the box in the left-hand panel for Emily.

Is Austin part of that flow? Select the flow at the bottom, and see if the checkbox for Austin is ticked. Or select Austin in the left hand panel, and see if the checkbox for that flow is ticked.
That works. Thanks I’ll post my next problem up separately. You Dorico experts must rue the day Steinberg made a deal with Make Music. I’ve been using D for over a year now, and I’m still completely clueless. But I really appreciate the help. I would have given up long ago without all of you. Thanks again.
I’m ready to scream. I go to Scene 1, click on Full Score and set up the players. I go to scene 2, click on Full Score and set up the players, but now the ones in Scene 1 have changed to the ones in Scene 2. I have no idea how to fix this.
It’s a little hard to tell without seeing your project and understanding what your desired outcome is, but I think you’re misunderstanding how things get wired up.
I’m going to guess that you want your full score to include all of the players for each flow. If this is true, then start by selecting all of the players in the left-hand panel (you can click the first player, then Shift+click the last player). They should all turn bright blue. Then tick the box for the full score in the right-hand panel. This tells Dorico that any music for any of the players should appear in the full score.
Now you need to assign players to flows. Select the first flow, in the bottom panel, and then tick the box in the left-hand panel for each player who is in that flow. Don’t do anything with the right-hand panel. Now select the second flow, and tick the box in the left-hand panel for each player in that flow. Repeat as needed. This tells Dorico which flows will contain music for which players.
Finally, you need to confirm that your full score includes all of your flows. You can either select the full score in the right-hand panel and then tick the box for each flow in the bottom panel, or you can select all of the flows in the bottom panel and then tick the box for the full score in the right-hand panel. Don’t do anything with the left-hand panel.
What this process does is wire up three different pairs of objects: Assign all players to the score layout, assign specific players to each flow, and assign all flows to the score layout. Any time you select an object, so that it turns bright blue, Setup mode is showing you these relationships from the perspective of that object.
You are very patient. My problem was that I keep clicking Full Score each time I changed the players. I don’t know why, but this screwed it up. I have now left the right side alone while I set up each flow. Then I selected all the flows and clicked full score. Now I think I’m good to go, I’ll post up my next problem separately. Thank you.
If you haven’t done so already, take some time to view the videos on layouts that explain what @asherber was showing you! Admittedly, I have yet to do this but generally I am only making a lead sheet.

Because each time you selected the full score and made changes to the players, you were changing the players included in the full score, for the whole piece. It doesn’t matter that you selected a flow first; there is no “sub-selection” mode in Setup.
