I am having massive trouble with triplets. If i want to create a sixteenth note triplet on the space of an eighth note, it either changes the beaming or adds more triplets in the next bar for no reason. Can someone explain why this is so complicated? Pictures attached…
make sure you input your tuplet ratio as 3:2
(that is 3 sixteenth notes at the place of 2 sixteenth notes.)
k_b I did that and I am still having another triplet set up added in the next bar.
ok this time it worked, not sure why it did not work previous times.
It’s because you had selected a quarter note before applying the triplet:
If you want three sixteenth notes in the place of two, make sure to have a sixteenth note selected before applying the triplet:
If you’ll experiment a bit, you will see what I mean…
Or specify the note duration exactly in the popover: 3:2x
(x = sixteenth)
… exactly.
- Enter the tuplet you want into the popover as a ratio followed by the beat unit.
For example, enter 3:2x to input sixteenth note triplets.
Note
If you do not specify the beat unit, the tuplet is based on the note value currently selected in the Notes panel.
