As a long-term Finale user, I’m currently adopting “pitch before duration” to simulate Speedy Entry. I’ve also mapped the up and down arrow keys to preselect the pitch. However, I hear the pitch every time I move the cursor vertically.
In the Version History for the 5.1.81 release: I read the following: “A new option ‘Play changes of shadow note pitch’ in pitch before duration input has been added to the Note Input and Editing page of Preferences. If you prefer only to hear the pitch of the note when you commit it to the score by hitting a duration key, deactivate this option.”
I have deactivated “Play changes of shadow note pitch in pitch before duration input” while keeping “Play notes during note input and selection” enabled, because I only want to hear the note when I actually commit it to the score. However, now I don’t hear anything.
Notes are played only when I select them with the mouse. Is there any way to hear a note only when I enter it into the score in pitch-before-duration mode?
