Help! Dorico is deleting a beat in my bar when I insert a tuplet!

I am in 3/4 and trying to insert quaver triplets but when I input the tuplet, it just deletes the third beat of the bar in only this bar. Other parts have music with the three beats fully filled but in the bar with the tuplet, it just deletes the third beat. Any advice on why this is happening??

the bar in question

placement of the tuplet

inputting the tuplet

resulting in two beats for Up Stem Voice 1 only in the bar

You’ve asked it for 3 quavers in the space of 4 quavers. As far as I can see, that’s what it’s given you.

when I ask for 3:8 instead of 3:4 it gives me this

You want a 3:2e (three eighths in the space of 2 eighths) ratio

3:8 is 3 quavers in the space of 8 quavers.
3:4 is 3 quavers in the space of 4 quavers.

that’s it, thank you!

Unless you specify a base unit (h=half, q=quarter, e=1/8th etc.) in the popover, Dorico will use whatever your current selected note duration is as the base for the tuplet you are creating.

Furthermore. If there is insufficient room in the current bar for the tuplet that you specify, Dorico will appear to split the tuplet across barlines, fitting as much as possible in the first bar and the remainder in the next bar.
