Help needed with 3OA - Getting a headlocked signal to headphones without Ambidecoder

Hello forum. I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure this out…

I’m working on an ambisonics (3O) project. I would like to use Ambi Head HD as my decoder and head tracking so I can use the linked 3D video player, but when I do I lose the sidechain input for stereo head-locked signal that’s in AmbiDecoder. I’m wondering if there’s a way I can do this with routing. Maybe I need to set up the control room differently for this.

I’ve tried bypassing the control room, having a stereo and 3OA output active at the same time routed to my interface (RME UCXII) and having the AmbiHead plugin inserted on the 3OA output channel, but doing it this way seems to affect the ambisonics sound field in a weird way after it gets decoded to binaural; doesn’t sound the same or maybe it’s just psychological. Plus the metering on the right zone becomes 2 channel only. I’m getting the feeling i’m doing it wrong.

Anyone know a workaround for this?

Cheers

Update

I solved this using my RME TotalMix FX routing. If you don’t have an interface that handles multiple output paths then you’re stuck…

Add a stereo output in addition to the ambisonics out in “Audio Connections”. Like in normal ambisonics projects using the control room, leave 3OA as “not connected” but connect stereo out to 3&4 or whatever the interface is able to route back to the main monitoring channels 1&2.

Add “phones” to control room list and select your interface as audio device, output 1 & 2

Send headlock tracks or group to stereo out.

That works for me
