Help wanted around exporting audio / midi / individual flows

Hello chaps!

When exporting individual flows, singly or as a batch, is there any way to tell Dorico what filename you would like it to have, rather than whatever fever dream it thinks you would like?

And on a related note, is there any way to persuade Dorico not to nest each and every flow in an increasingly complex series of baffling folders? Ideally, I’d like to export all the flows in a file as, say, mp3s and then not have to spend the next 20 minutes copying and pasting files from 1,000 random subfolders into one place…

Thank you!

Hey Charlie,

Any further thoughts here?

None! Just living with it so far…

Not sure what you are asking for. But if you uncheck Export each selected flow as a separate file , Dorico will create only one mp3 with all the flows in it:

Resulting export:

If you choose to export audio as separate files, Dorico conveniently puts each flow into a folder, with the number of the flow, and the file name is Project Title - Flow Name (not Flow Title!). Make sure your flow names (which can be independent from flow titles) are what you want:

This is well organised and I think that if it would not be like that, it would cause much more confusion and requests from users to have the audio exports to be organised in subfolders (just my thoughts).
(But on the other side if you export a flows as Dorico projects instead of audio there is a checkmark to not create subfolders, so maybe this would be a good candidate for a feature request)

But even if you have subfolders, you can easily filter the content of the parent folder for .mp3 file format, to be able to access them all at once, and drag them into a single folder, using you OS functionalities (in MacOS the folder content search function of the Finder).
