I’m pressured on time and struggling with how to set up the layout to be best for the conductor: A3 format, chamber orchestra with 9 seperate instruments/staves. (not using divisi on seperate staves.)
Is rastral size 5 projecting ok or normal? it seems systems are too crammed in rastral 6 or 7
However, the systems are spaced differently on some of the pages. How to fix?
Any other things clever to do when formatting for chamber orchestra?

Its really too uncomfortable sharing screenshots of ongoing work. Im lucky to find dorico is easy to navigate. it wont be perfect but sufficiently pragmatic in rastral 7, max 2 system pr page.
sorry to ovwerflow with messages. heres a photo of current challenge. fixed system to max 2 per page. on the first page its still/automaticly only one system. looks as if there is room for another one. Cant see how to fill that gap.
I know the printer collab i have auto chooses A3 for anything a conductor reads. and thats the original question, given all these choices i’d love a good idea of what is the ideal ratio to present how much music at each page? I feel im getting closer. Thanks, ill look into signpost.
You already shared a screenshot of those two pages. Could you make a copy of your project, delete all bars after the second page, and post that file here?
Looking at the page fullness indicators, I’m surprised those three systems don’t fit at the first page together.
It most be soms layout option somewhere, but it’s hard to guess from screenshots
Please go to Engrave Mode. In menu Engrave select Reset Layout in the submenus Format Music Frames and Staff Spacing.
As a conductor myself I can say that everything equal or above 4.8 mm (size 7) is fine. The best page format for almost all scores is B4 (the traditional format for music between A4 and A3). As this format is dying for private printing due to standardization of affordable printers my suggestion is to use A3 only for scores which require a size below 4.8 mm (in A4).
No. I did reduce them because i didnt want to display them in the screenshot. The problem is prior to the reduction, and exists in the original file as well, the one im working in, where i havent reduced or deleted anything, except for in the one part where the standard notation is to have a combination of normal and small note heads to show what is the main voice. this happens throughout the piece, but layout challenge is only on p. 1 (luckily).
