It seems when I am using the export/ audio mixdown, it makes a mono mix. I have checked every setting I know. The stereo out is checked, export as is interleaved. Something must not be set right.
Perhaps you could post some screenshots that shows those settings.
I can’t see anything unusual here.
I assume you have already checked all plugins on your busses and also on your stereo out, right?
Just to be sure: when you play back your mix in Cubase it’s stereo. As soon as you do a mixdown it turns into mono.
Have you tried to reimport the mixdown and check if it is really a mono track? Maybe it’s your listening device outside Cubase and not the track?
A plugin set to mono on the 2 bus?
A group or multiple groups set to mono?
Any room or headphone correction that might need to be disabled before mix down?
Just brainstorming. Maybe check the stereo/mono settings on each track, especially any groups/sends the project funnels down to before hitting the mix bus.
I see you do mixdown & MP3 conversion in one step. What about the result when exporting in Project`s format (i.e. WAV)? Is it the same or not?
P.
Well I found it, it is in my monitoring chain. I exported the mixdown file and played back on another device and what do ya know, it’s the stereo mix. I am just getting back into recording so my whole system needs to be pulled apart and rewired. It was just confusing becuse everything was good up till the point of mixdown. You could hear it in stereo as I was working on the recording, and the mix bus meters reflected the stereo image.
Thank you so much for all the help. Best to all.
Glad you found it.
So I had the right hunch when I suggested to take a closer look at your listening device after mixdown ![]()
