Help with tutorials please! -- Instruction box

Long time Finale user, finally working through the tutorials. But the d**n instruction box is always in the middle of the d**m staff. If I try to move it, it disappears. I can’t get it back, so I have to leave the tutorial. I have exited the 3rd tutorial 14 times in an hour. How in the world am I supposed to try the suggested actions on the staff if the silly box keeps disappearing? Seriously? Please help, what am I missing here? Why can’t I just drag the box OFF OF THE STAFF???

Hi @elomax , Welcome to the forum.

I can’t visualize what instruction box you are troubling with. Is that a part of the tutorial you’re using (which tutorial?), or a part of Dorico?

Could you post a screensoht maybe?

Hi TonH. Thanks for writing back. This is the 3rd tutorial under Dorico 5’s “Learn” tab. (It really doesn’t matter which one, they all do this, so I just gave up.) I cannot move the box without making it disappear. Which is useless.

I can move the box anywhere by “grabbing” it near the top.

Animation

Same here. And “grabbing” is clicking in the title, moving while mouse is down, and release at the destination

I’m on a Mac, does not know if that matters

When I do that it simply disappears. Which means that there is probably a setting that . . . I need to change.

I see some ‘jumping’ of the screen, but you can start in the middle of it too, doesn’t have to be the title

Tried clicking in the title, holding down the left mouse button . . . and the box disappears.

I’m on Windows if that helps.

I’m on Windows 11. The box only closes for me if I click the X in the upper right. I can drag using the top or bottom of the box (and in the middle, too, just not where there is explanatory text at the bottom), and using the left or right mouse button.

I’m in Windows 11. The box closes for me if I click anywhere on the box. So I need to hunt for a setting. If I find the answer I will post it here. Thanks guys.

OK. I think I have found the answer. I’m using two monitors. My display settings are on “Extend this display”. When I move the window to the laptop screen, the box will move. When I move the window to the 2nd monitor, the box disappears when you click it. This is somehow caused by my display settings.
