Help

I have an Alesis imultimix 16 USB 1.1 mixer and I want to record single tracks and then record another track while the first is playing, so you can play over it in essence. The problem is that when I try to record a second track while sampling the first it also records the track that is sampling. Please help!

If this is the wrong forum I am sorry!

Isn’t there a dial on the unit that changes source between the computer and the device itself? ASIO Driver selected? Sys specs?

This is the unit: http://www.alesis.com/imultimix16usb

Its just a basic recording board. Very basic, to my knowledge it does not support multi-track recording.
Computer Specs:

Core i7 920
12gb ram
GTX 480 GPU
3x HDD’s

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

AISO Driver is selected, it is setup verbatim of the installation instructions that came with the mixer its self. I just cannot split the recorded tracks from being recognized as an input source, so the first tracks always records on the second added instrument.

No experience on iMultimix, but after a quick look at the manual, I would suggest you to try following:

  • Make sure “USB TO MIX” is NOT pressed
  • Make sure “USB TO CTRL ROOM” IS pressed
  • If you want to monitor the signal being monitored through iMultimix
Make sure “MIX TO CTRL ROOM” IS pressed
  • If you want to monitor the signal being monitored through Cubase
Make sure “MIX TO CTRL ROOM” is NOT pressed

Not sure if it works, though.
