Hey Steinberg, Have Fun With This

Just as an exercise, try copying 100 entries from the soon to be discontinued Generic Remote over to the MIDI Remote and tell me how much fun you have.

To hang the prospect of discontinuing the GR over our heads while not providing a method of transferring, in some cases, thousands of GR entries over to the MIDI Remote is unfair. You do realise that some people have been developing their prefered workflow using the GR for decades don’t you?

I assume the only reason the pitchforks aren’t already out is because the GR is still there. Woe betide you when you do actually remove it.

As a Metagrid user I completely understand. I have more than 100 and hate to think about that task.

My opinion is that it’s not going to be discontinued, at least any time soon. I’m aware of what has been written about it.

The emphasis is to get users working with the Midi Remote and not rely on the generic remotes.

MIDI Remote is still too buggy to take over completely, for better or worse.

I guess rest easy while there are still so many kinks to work out!

Like not being able to change the ports once the surface has been created. And the functions browser not populating with plugin parameter names. Which means we have to use the Remote Control Editor from 1984 to determine which parameters we are actually controlling.

And for some reason new random surfaces are being added every time I open the project. There should be two, MetaGrid And Bome, That’s it.
