Hi! I can’t hear one instrument

Hello! I was wondering why I can’t hear one instruments while others are playing and I have redone it, does anyone have any idea? It’s hard to do my assignment and move on help please!

Your description of the situation is… errr… rather short.

Hi! I am a starter with “Cubase 14pro” so I didn’t know but thank you though

Check the MIDI input routing. I had the same problem. I did not know why my MIDI input routing stopped using “All MIDI Devices” as the default. (It changed to my slider controller for some weird reason. It was probably a slip of the trackball that I just started using.)

You could start by posting a screenshot of your project. Show us which instruments you are using. Which instrument is not playing. Is it a plugin, which one?

I have come across a bug whereby an instrument that was playing fine, all of a sudden stopped playing back.

Duplicating the instrument solved the issue for me, as Cubase was muting it, without showing it being muted.

There are many reasons why an instrument track might not play back. Think about the following:

  1. Is the track muted (M)?
  2. Is there a MIDI event on the track?
  3. Is the MIDI event muted?
  4. Is there a licensing problem preventing the instrument from loading properely?

If you are trying to record MIDI on a new instrument track, is the monitor button turned on?

Look at the bottom right of the Toolbar and check the MIDI input light when you press a key.

Check the instrument track and make sure there is an audio signal at the output when you press a key (or play MIDI parts).

If so, is it routed to the Stereo Out track (the master)?. Is there a signal on the stereo output when the instrument is being played. Solo the track and double check the routing.

If none of these suggestions work, you may have found a bug, most likely with the instrument. Try a different instrument with the same MIDI notes to check whether it is a plugin problem or something to do with Cubase.

Hope this helps

:slightly_smiling_face: Hello, good morning! I solved the issue at my college I was suppose to use a “ serum” so the instrument can be heard and it is a MIDI file so that was done on purpose cause sometimes that happens so thank you everyone I hope you have happy holidays!
