Hidden notes in play mode

In Dorico 5 elements, I uploaded a midi of a cello part, but I hear the bass too. I cannot see the bass in any way, not on the midi editor field, nor on the Setup, but I cannot play the cello part without hearing those very low notes! Any help?

Thanks,
S.

Try to reapply the Playback template under the Play menu. Could be that you are hearing key switches.

I don’t know how to do that. I opened a new project just to see if it does the same with a single midi voice, just a simple melody. And it does! I imput Pianoteq as VST but I hear, together with the written notes, very low notes which aren’t there! I never wrote those notes! It’s really weird.

As I said, they are probably key switches. Could you upload the file, and I’ll try to delete them.

Hello Jesele, attached you’ll find the midi file. I think Dorico doesn’t work well with Pianoteq, because if I use the HaLion it works.

Hi. I opened a file with your midi file, and no keyswitches appear (even with Pianoteq, who works perfectly with Dorico for so long…)

Yes, indeed Marc.
Does this file work @stefanomatteucci ?

I don’t hear those low notes with this file you sent. Even though a message said “This project references a Playback Template playbacktemplate.auto that is not installed on this system”. And it seems to be a Dorico later version. Maybe I should update? Any file I upload gives those low notes, even when using HaLion!

Another one with the exact same prolem. Very low notes playing along, which are NOT there!

If you are using Pianoteq, you must also ensure that you are using the Default Expression map. Like this…

If, by mistake you are using a different expression map, Dorico will be sending to Pianoteq the key switches appropriate to that map (and you will hear Pianoteq play them, because it does not know how to interpret them!) eg. This configuration with your file plays the bass notes…

Pianoteq works great with Dorico. There was a topic about this recently.
