Does anyone have any suggestions about how to discover what might be causing the excessive horizontal spacing? The problem returns in Write model after resetting spacing in Engrave Mode.
This might not determine what is causing the odd spacing in that bar, but it will/should delete whatever it is.
Turn on the System Track and click in the selection box for that bar. That will select everything in that bar. Next, in the Edit menu, select Filter > Deselect only. Go back into Edit > Filter and choose Notes and Chords. Then press Delete. Hopefully, the spacing will then be correct.
You will need to re-do the slurs as they will be deleted unless you also do Filter > Deselect only > Slurs before pressing Delete.
One technique which I have used to discover items which have somehow become hidden is to use the System Track as described above to deselect notes (and slurs, in this situation), then press alt/opt + shift + left arrow. With any luck, whatever was hidden will show itself.
