Hidden Playing technique signs appear in condensed mode

Hello to you all,
I am working in Dorico Version 5.1.51.2153 and I have an issue with Playing Techniques. I work with an expression map to change vowels in vocals, but I don’t want to see the signs of vowel changes and therefore I hide the playing technique signs in properties in Global mode.
So far so good, but in condensed mode the playing technique signs appear and won’t go away. This is also the case for other playing technique signs.
Is there perhaps an option for hiding the signs in condensed mode or is this a bug?

… and welcome to the forum @Toon_van_den_Ende

NO, that is not the problem, the problem is that the hidden playing technique signs appear in condensed mode, despite the hiding in galley view.
The lower picture is the condensed mode of the two voices.

You have to go to Engrave Mode and hide them again. I’m pretty sure it’s always been like this…

Must be something special for custom techniques.

I tried that too, but that doesn’t work either.

Hi @Toon_van_den_Ende I think it would be better to post an excerpt Dorico file that shows the problem.

Test met Expression maps.dorico (1,4 MB)

I made a file with vertical split so you can see what the problem is.

I may be wrong, but I think Dorico has to show these, because they are differences between each condensed part.

But if there is an option to hide the sign of the playing technique, Why should it be shown in condensed form?

Because the playing techniques are different on each condensed part. (as I say, this is a guess)

If the playing technique is not for the player and can be hidden in uncondensed form, why should it be shown in condensed form?

Perhaps because of the way condensing algorithm works? I have no special knowledge, but observe that very small differences between parts will affect how condensing works.

Again, in uncondenced mode I can hide a playing technique that unhides in condenced mode. In that case, condensing is not working properly, despite the differences in showing the same part.

I can easily hide these in Engrave Mode.

Thank you, Craig. I’ve tried that and it actually works. Condensed mode has it’s own world evidently. I think that it stays an issue because hiding in write mode is not the same as in engrave mode. In write hiding is only in uncondensed and in engrave mode hiding is in both condensed and uncondensed modes. But I found a workaround, thanks again.

Yes – Once staves are condensed they constitute new staves that can then be edited in engrave mode separately.
