I’d like to hide the cesuras in the piano staves, leaving just the vocal marking. I’m unable to delete them in Engrave Mode. There’s no “hide” in the properties panel. Any help?
Create a Playing technique glyph that will substitute for the caesura n one staff and then rely on the properties for your fermata to control the timing of the hold and succeeding pause.
Thank you! That’s definitely a workable solution. Seems like something that shouldn’t require a custom playing technique though.
You might also be able to drag them off the page in Engrave mode - that is a hack I’ve used before with fermatas.
Why not? A caesura has musical meaning. Why should the pianist be denied that information?
Janus: Publishers and clients often have specific requirements. Mine is not to question, but deliver.
That reminds me of old Finale workarounds. Dorico is deep enough to give us better options (I hope!)
I read somewhere, ages ago, but I cannot verify it, that:
If the // is not at the end of the bar, then all staves, including LH (for piano) and Pedal (for organ), should have //, but if it is at the end of the bar, only a single // above RH is required for the grand staff. Has anyone else seen a similar statement?
In the sample in the OP, the // should then be above the voice and RH, but not in LH.
But, as said, I cannot verify the ‘recommendation’, and looking at the sample, the multiple fermatas make multiple // look good as well.
