Yes, I know that the engineer for the session will import the tempo map directly from Logic into ProTools. But still, I want it in my score as a reference.
I’ve used the custom scale option to get the markings down to 40% - barely readable on a printed page. Even so, they are stretching out the width of my bars a bit more than I’d like.
Is there a way to NOT show the beat unit? That would use less space.
You could select them all (do a select all, followed by filter>absolute tempos) and switch off the Show Metronome mark property. They will be replaced by blue signposts, which you can choose to hide (View>signposts>tempo…)
if you want to show the metronome marks without decimals (which takes much less space), see in Engraving Options>Tempo>Absolute Changes>Number of decimal places to show tempo:
I’m afraid the two emails above missed the point -
I intentionally turned the decimals on to make the tempo mapping more accurate if used to build a tempo map.
I am NOT looking to hide these markings completely - I know how to do that.
I am looking to hide the beat unit - which is the quarter note and equal sign. But keep the number itself.
There are times to show the beat unit - but if an entire number is in 3/4 or 4/4 the quarter note and equal sign are redundant information. Even if the meter were changing from 6/8 to 4/4 I would only need to see the beat unit on the first marking for the bar.
Is there a way to hide the beat unit? I can’t find anything in the styles for metronome markings.
