Hide measure, hide staff, lyrics and chords

I’m coming from Finale; there, I could easily hide certain parts of the score for educational purposes, and I could also hide staves and rests to create a lyrics-and-chords-only sheet. I really like Dorico, but I feel like I’m missing that functionality.

Is there a way to do it? Thanks.

There is a lot of flexibility in Dorico. I think what you’re looking for would be a special layout. There are some tutorial videos for this, I believe. Check the manual regarding making layouts; there is some information there and there are probably links to tutorials as well.

If you Ctl click > Staff > create manual cutaway does that do what you are looking for?

That might be what @pastoresruiz is looking for – it was my first thought – but I’m guessing he is looking for something more basic than that. Thanks for pointing it out, though — I should have mentioned it!

You’ll probably want to use the 0-Line Staff doricolib file as Dorico doesn’t natively support that yet. Here’s a link:

Yeah, there was a change in how Dorico handles these between D4 and D5. I think I figured it out and detailed it in this post. Here’s a new doricolib file for D5 that creates both a 0-Line and 1-Line instrument in the Custom category. Additionally, it creates a Clef for the 1-Line Staff that defines the line to be middle C for ease of input. The image appears wrong in the right panel, but is correct in the score.
