Hello everyone
I would like to hide one single flow header among others that are shown. This specific flow is a ritornello within a song, and having it on a separate flow can be useful so that I can move it around, copy and transpose it in the piece I’m working on. In Layout preferences I only find general options (expected), but in Engrave mode I can’t find a way to make this exception. Am I missing something or is this not possible yet?
What you can do now is insert a flow headings change. It’s attached to the page and not the flow, but you can easily move it using the arriws below the mini-pages in Engrave mode right panel.
It will work if there is only one flow heading on the page…
Note that if the flow doesn’t have a title, only the margins defined for the flow heading will matter.
Create an empty Flow Heading template, and then change to that Flow heading.
Bear in mind that a Flow Heading Change applies to all Flows on the page.
Thank you both. The flow heading change is interesting, I will be certainly using it in other circumstances, but here I think Dorico cannot just yet answer my need, which would be to have these 16 measures in a separate flow, but being the Ritornello just after the song, without page layout change. But I still need the flow header for the songs themselves, which are in the same page.
I will just copy and paste the Ritornello wherever I need, the separate flow procedure doesn’t seem adapted in this case.
Another (not very elegant) way to achieve this could be to delete the flow title of the Ritornello flow altogether in Setup mode, and remove the {@flowNumber@} token from the flow heading template (you can manually add the number in each flow title if you need it, but that obviously won’t update if you shift flows around). That will give you this:
It has its drawbacks, spacing being an obvious one, but I thought I’d drop the idea.
Flow headings overrides are now available in Dorico 6. Each flow can have its own heading, no matter how many flows there are on the page. That is great
