Hide rest in part only that has cue notes

Please see the attached screen shot. This is a cello part with a cue from soprano saxophone. I would like to remove the half note rest in the first half of the bar. But if I do that, it will also be removed from the score. Since the score has cue notes hidden, I want the rest to be in the score but not the part. Also, the prior bar is empty for the cello, so there’s no way to end a voice, if that helps.
Hope all this is clear. Any thoughts? Thanks!

This is not what you asked, but it’s absolutely standard to display that rest (in score and parts). It represents what the cello plays; the cue notes don’t automatically indicate that the cello has 2 beats of rest.

I can’t remember but you may be able to set a Custom Scale for the rest but only do this Locally in the part. This would be done in Engrave mode.

Yell out if you need more detail.

Hi @Peter_Lurye, I totally agree with what @asherber wrote. But if you need for some reason to “hide” the rest only for the cello part, you can select it in the part and from the Properties Panel (set to Locally), activate the Color override, click on the color field, and set the Opacity/Alpha to 0%.

Thanks, folks—I bow to those who know engraving customs better than I do! Especially when it saves me time.

AND I should add… the opacity trick is a good thing to know about! Thanks.

You can hide rests alongside and on either side of cues.
