Hiding non-printing items - undocumented behavior...?

When using the key to the left of the 1 key, “`”, to hide non-printing items (MacOS - U.S. Keyboard), if I keep this key down, then use Option-Shift-right (or left) bracket to move to another layout (in Engrave mode), the non-printing items remain hidden after I let up all keys, including this key.

In fact, I can continue to use the Opt-Shift-Right/Left Bracket to move between all layouts with all non-printing items remaining hidden - without pressing the key to the left of “1”. (Still in Engrave mode)

Only when I press this key again, do the hidden non-printing items reappear.

I’ve tried this in MacOS Monterey and Sonoma on Intel and Silicone in multiple projects, with the same behavior. It’s kind of nice that I can move between layouts in Engrave mode having all non-printing items hidden, without needing to hold down this key. Makes it easy to preview parts. I’ve found no mention of this behavior in the online documentation, so I’m wondering if this an undocumented feature?

If it considered a “bug”… please keep it - it is an excellent way to preview parts without needing to go to Print mode, or continually press this key, “`”.

Can anyone else reproduce this behavior?

I agree with you: I use this all the time*! So I also think /hope that this is intended to behave like that and that it will remain as it is

*I use the a German keyboard, where you need shift+^ (but I have changed the shortcut for hide non-printing items to shift+1, and I deactivated the 1 for 128th note input) , and if I keep pressing the ^ (or the 1 in my case) releasing the shift, the hidden view remains, without needing to switch layouts: very handy!

Yes, someone else noticed this and posted about it a couple of years ago (but I have no idea how to search for the thread!) Easily reproducible.
