I’d like all tempo indications to appear above the top staff and the strings in a large score. That works, but only in combination with the rehearsal marks. However, I don’t want the rehearsal marks to appear above the strings. Is there an option somewhere to choose which system objects appear where in the score, or is it an all-or-nothing setting?

That option never seemed like a good choice to me, because it felt too rigid.
If I hide empty staves in the score and the empty staves happen to be, say, Piccolo and Violin I - and I’ve linked tempo markings specifically to those two instruments - I assumed that the tempo indications wouldn’t appear in that system either.
But in fact, the tempo indication is “inherited” downward to the first visible instrument! Great, thanks for the tip
