I’d like to have this result for e.x. the timpani voice:

But if I use it, the roll -of course- stops playing during the glissando.
I’ve tried to create a ‘direction’ playback technique with text which I could hide.
This didn’t work out. I even didn’t find the timpani in the NP percussion map.
Is there a way to achieve it within NP (or without NP)?
Of course this works, but it looks strange:

And this is also not an option - cause it confuses the timpani player:

So I guess, this is really the best solution, but I can’t achieve it soundwise:

I don’t think there is a good way of achieving this effect in Dorico’s playback automatically. Possibly the best you could do is suppress the playback of the glissando line itself so that you are simply using the regular roll sound, and then approximate the glissando by adding pitch bend instructions manually in the pitch bend editor in the Key Editor.
Hey Daniel,
with your solution I still have the same problem:
The roll stops playing if I use this:

I think the problem is: How to create notes without noteheads, which continue to playback the roll…
By the way:
The glissando playback in Dorico works perfectly with this solution and playback type ‘continous’:

In Engrave mode, select the notes, open the Lower Zone and select Hide notehead. Does this work?
Hey Daniel…thanx…but the noteheads are hidden in my example
…the problem is that the roll stops playing:

What about writing the solution that sounds well in an extra staff and then use Manual Staff Visibility to hide it?
Then you can suppress the playback of the visible staff and live a happy and long life

Hey Michele…good solution, though if you write for orchestra and already have like 40 players in your layout, you try to avoid every extra staff
…but probably that’s the best solution. Thanx !

In the attached Dorico project, I have
- hidden the stem and notehead of the two notes in the second half of the bar,
and
- in a second voice, added those two notes, hidden their noteheads, flipped their stem direction and changed their voice column index.
The hidden notes still playback the roll.

Another possible solution is to put a trill over the notes with hidden noteheads and activate the properties Show trill mark and Has trill line without checking the boxes.

Or perhaps suppress the playback of the two notes with hidden noteheads, then extend the played duration of the rolled quaver using the Key Editor.
