Hiding staves on a page-by-page basis

In an orchestral works, it would be REALLY nice to be able to hide staves on a page-by-page basis. It might even be nice in chamber music, in extended sections with a minimal group. The option provided – to hide all empty staves page-by-page after the first one – is too limited for many circumstances. I know one can turn that on and add invisible things to the staves one wants not to disappear – but that screws up the multimeasures in the parts.

Maybe next update? Or are there any other solutions to this?

You can get really quick answers to these sorts of questions if you search. See Hide specific empty staves, but not all - #2 by dspreadbury - Dorico - Steinberg Forums from less than a week ago, for instance.

Of course you can duplicate the score (either as a separate file or as a group of duplicate instruments) and have one for the score and one for the parts—no worrying about multirests. There are other things like numbered bar repeats that often force me to do this. It does mean that you need to remember to make all edits twice. But until we get more control over what is and isn’t shown in scores & parts that’s the best you can do. No word from the team as to when that will happen, though…
