Hiding stems

I may have posted in the wrong spot. Try again:
I am needing to hide stems throughout a project (and then turn them back on for editing purposes on occasion). I can select a notehead and hide stems, but when I have a multiple selection, the relevant properties tab doesn’t appear.

I ran into a comment while searching for a solution and came across an answer that referenced a global preference (I think) for hiding and showing stems. But I can’t find that in my rooting about.

So:

Where do I find the global preference for hiding and showing stems (assuming that it works when I print as well)?
How do I turn stems on and off for a whole flow?
How do I turn stems on and off for a multiple selection?

Thanks for the help!

In the program preferences, under the key commands, edit section there is a ‘toggle hide stems’ option. Set a keyboard shortcut, selected multiple items then apply the shortcut and all the notes in the passage highlighted no longer display stems.

How about:

  1. In Write mode, Select all
  2. Filter > Notes and Chords
  3. Change to Engrave Mode
  4. Properties panel > Notes and Rests > Hide Stem or Jump bar > Toggle Hide Stem

I set a custom jump bar alias for this, so it’s just j, hs. Quick and simple.

Thanks. That’s what I did the last time, and I couldn’t remember what I’d done (that’s what happens when you don’t do this every day!)

Thanks. That what I was trying to do, but didn’t switch to engrave.
