Hi (most very useful and informative) Forum
I’m creating a template for students’ rhythmic transcription.
12 4-bar examples, 4 shown for demo in this file.
Hide time sig.dorico (611.6 KB)
Some with ¾ meter, 1 beat pickup with partial last bar for all songs (1/4 meter to make it horizontally smaller) with invisible barline which indicates student will hear a partial bar of music fading.
Design in Dorico, single flow, export as single-page PDF with no bar numbers.
Problem: can’t “edit/remove rests” in pickup bars 0, [5], [10] which have pickups.
Problem: can’t hide cautionary time signature bars 5, 10, but can remove it if the next bar has no pickup (bar 15).
Is the use of a single flow causing the above problems?
No invisible barline available (used dashed, dash length set to 0).
Anyone got solutions to the rests & time signature problems?
Thanks, Bill
I’m not sure if there’s a better way here, but you can hide the rests in the pickup measures by (a) setting custom scale to 1%, (b) setting opacity/alpha channel to 0, or (c) positioning the rest off the page in Engrave mode.
You can hide the cautionary time sigs by selecting the time sig in the following system and setting “Cautionary at end of system” to Show in the lower Properties panel.
Thanks!
These suggestions seemed to work. I’d completely forgotten about the “global %” trick to hide things.
I had to start a new file, inout the examples with the pickup bars, then use the “Cautionary…” checkmark. That worked too.
Thanks, Bill
