does enabling hidpi on a 1080p monitor do anything? I have hidpi enabled so that I can have my Windows10 scaling at custom 140, and cubase still run at 100. it looks fine, plenty sharp, but is it higher res or just my imagination? is hidpi only making a difference on a 4k monitor?

The HiDPI Mode will adapt to larger scaling factors than the one usually recommended for this resolution on Windows (100%). It should in fact make a difference although in general HiDPI is about targetting 4k displays or resolutions somewhere in the middle.
