Please explain, with examples, how hold and gap percentages work. Nothing I have read is helpful, since no concrete examples and results are given. I need an explanation with “if hold % is this” and “gap % is this” this will result in x during playback.

They’re percentages of the (smallest) note length that the pause is written on. So with the default values of a 50% hold and a 50% gap, the note will sound for 50% longer than normal and will be followed by a silent gap which is also 50% of the note length.
I tried that, but the playback shortens the duration and no gap.
If you can attach an example where this is going wrong then we can take a look.
