Hold duration value on fermata has no effect

I am wondering why activating and increasing the hold duration value for this fermata has no effect:

Other parts:

The note duration on the word coil remains exactly a dotted quarter regardless of the hold duration value.

I’ve identified why the hold duration value is being ignored and am wondering if there’s a workaround.

Initially, I suspected the issue might be related to the rhythmic value of the held note, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The problem persists even if I notate the passage using a triplet. For example:

Next, I tried deleting the caesura, but that didn’t resolve it either.

What I failed to show in my original post is that there’s a ritardando marking over bar 141. If I remove this marking, the hold duration value behaves as expected.

Since a tempo change at the point of a fermata isn’t uncommon, I’m wondering if there’s a way to work around this limitation.

If you use the bottom panel to monitor the tempo curve, ypu’ll see what the fermata does (when it does do something) and hopefully it will help you “debug” your file with any tempo indication that would get in the way

I’ve never had reason to explore the Tempo window before. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, much appreciated.
