No alpha, no feather. Only “pure” black is transparent, rgb 1,1,1 will be just (almost) black.
There is no limit to what you can wish for. “Transparency” in VST Live is acheived by adding pixels, and the intensity is what you set in the video event (clip) info, so you would want to be able to set that as well? And only show if no other video, or not. Then HonkyTonk wants it in the background as opposed to an overlay…alll can be done, but there is so much more important stuff to do, it all comes down to user interface.
Sure we could make a fancy dialog with plenty of settings, then we need to save, load, restore, test, review…that is why we avoid stuff like this, not because it cannot be done.
What is shown is already implemented, more is down to keeping it simple. Maybe a front/back column…but that’s exactly what we wanted to avoid, more columns, more settings. A preference was suggested, now we’re further down the road already. If you come up with something really simple…
I see now, understand:) need to know this for IMG preparation.
That is not me, I just willing to simply see it.
I know that! There wasn’t any pressure from me but wrote… for far future ones to avoid the need to touch preferences-/video-views panels. Stopped it, sry
It has to show wether a file is selected at all…I mean you click the column and then what? Now, a file selector appears. If you cancel, that’s OFF, else ON.
There you go
Then we may as well do the fancy dialog. File selector is standard and has ok and cancel, everything else ist time consuming.
Give us some time to think about it.
Just here is again a real-life scenario… where a future made global-video-module would help.
Currently I need to solve to start a song w.o. backing tracks, quasi freely but also with LED screen video playing then tracks are incoming after 2mins (will hit PLAY manually)
A GBL video module could be triggered (via MIDI CC) to start playing w.o. care about transport (STOP/PLAY states) and just play a video file from the beginning until file end or until gbl-video-module-receiving-stop-signal manually on module-GUI or MIDI CC).
Currently, we probably will load that video file to the venue’s resolume arena, switch LED screen input and let that video played outside of VL.
I know it’s quite impossible to create a sw. for all tiny demands, but a gbl-video module could be pimped up year-by-year while starting from scratch with just very basic features (like image over or underlay). All without complicating/touching existing preference panes.
