Well, it did at first… I checked out the station a few times in the past couple of days, the stream sounded good. So of course today, I tune in and it was in overdrive mode, nasty distortion… luckily they have a phone number on their website, and I figured we cant have it sounding like sheet, I called, Todd answered!

I nearly fell out of the chair when he said what he did on the air! Those fellas would be good to share a few brews with!

Hello Everyone,

The first collection has been completed. Have a listen to them if ya like. Since we had such a vast range of genre, I separated songs of similar genres so that both discs would bare similarities to each other. I didn’t get crazy with the mastering process. I just did some spatial and a few different ways of eqing using static and dynamic eqing, various types of compression and compressors as well as limiting. Some songs like Lenny’s, Robin’s and Nicola’s needed very little where others I spent some more time on them to make them a little more playful to the ears. Have a listen to your song if it is in the first collection. If for some reason you disagree with my decisions when you listen back to your song let me know. I know this is short notice, but I need to know asap since we go live tomorrow.

Overall, i am very happy with how the first collection turned out in layout of the songs on into the treatments I gave them. Level-wise, I used the most compressed song (Lenny!! ya gotta back off homie ) as the barometer of where the other songs would be raised to, which wound up averaging around 10db of dynamic range. The cool thing is, you can strap a compressor on pretty much any of the songs and squash them more and they still sound good which is a good barometer that the songs took well to the treatments so I was able to balance things spectrally pretty well in the short time I had with them all which was about 4-6 hours including the 2-album song layouts.

Hello - is there any other way to hear the songs - rather than Box?

I ask because, as you know, I’ve been unable to access the folder on their site (owing to some permission error) and even now, if I try to log in it, I end up in a constant loop asking for me to enter my email address. When I do enter my email address, it asks me to enter it again (owing to not being valid!!!) - I use the email address all the time and have never had issues with it for 18 years.

It would be good to hear what everyone has been contributing.

Excellent - I’ve listened to all of Vol 1. What a great job on the mastering side of things. Mind you, the quality of songs possibly made it easy anyway!

The date for volume 2 is yet to be decided. Tom thinks it mayyyyy be possible to do it 2 weeks from today, but he didn’t want to commit to it until after he had a chance to look at his studio schedule.
