Hello everyone, I am trying to move the individual notes with the horizontal notespacing feature in engrave mode but I am having troubles. I saw that you press on the box and then on the little circle that appears to move it, yet nothing is happening when I do that. I am moving using alt + the left/right arrows. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Or is there another way to do this? Thank you

Select the handle and increase or decrease the space of the voice column preceding that handle using Opt-left arrow or Opt-right arrow (Alt- on PC). For larger increments, Cmd-Opt-arrow.
You can use the little circle handle to move the note independent of the voice column, but that’s rare.
This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Just curious, Mack, is there a reason to move these individual notes instead of changing the note spacing option? The more senior users can correct me if I’m wrong but you can tighten up the note spacing and Dorico’s collision avoidance will keep the lyrics from running together.

Very true. Also, under Engraving Options > Lyrics you will find various ways to tighten up the lyric spacing too.
OP didn’t say anything about lyrics. Dorico has great note spacing, but if it’s for publication, I’m always going at least a little manual adjustment.
I am using the fanned beaming option, so I want the notes to be closer together as the fanned beam shows faster notes.
For this you don’t need the manual adjustments at all. Instead select the first note of your fanned beam ones, and do a “Note Spacing Change”. You do this in Engrave Mode via the menu. At any later rhythmic position in your score you can reset Note Spacing back to your global settings.
Oh my gosh this is so amazing and helpful! Thank you so much!
