Hi All. I have attached two images. The dorico-notated image has an orange note which I would like to appear as per my hand written extract. Can anyone help me with this?

Select the note (as you just did, probably by clicking on the down stem in write mode), switch to Engrave mode and enable the Voice column index property. Make sure you change it to 1, and both Gs should now appear as you wish. That is the local change.
The global change (to make sure this overlapping never occurs) is made through Notation options>Voices. There are several options (to deal with dotted and non dotted notes)
